Network Disruption 9th May 2023
There are several weather warnings across the country for today and tonight. Depending on the level of rain received, there may be network disruptions into Far North / Whangarei / Coromandel / Bay of Plenty / Nelson / Marlborough and the West Coast. The snow warning may also affect access to Central North Otago and Queenstown.
UPDATE: 3:30PM
Due to current conditions, Whangarei and far up North have been closed off. Couriers are not expecting to get freight out of there at all tonight nor send inbound overnight.
Services in Warkworth and Silverdale have ceased due to flooding. Other parts of Auckland are also affected due to not being safe to access.
Traffic in Auckland is severely congested due to road closures caused by flooding from blocked drains. This is going to compromise the ability to get couriers into the depots tonight and will most likely delay the outbound road freight and connections to the Airport for Air freight. There is more heavy rain forecasted between 5-7pm.
There will no doubt be delays in the network tonight ex-Auckland on both road and Air adding to delivery delays tomorrow.
Please bear this in mind when sending cold chain or time-sensitive freight to areas vulnerable to flooding / delays (or if the transit routes pass through vulnerable areas). Stay safe.
