Mainstream General Rate Increase
Mainstream will be implementing a general rate increase (GRI) from 1 October 2026.
Over the past year, several factors have continued to place considerable pressure on Mainstream’s operating costs and the freight industry in general.
These include:
- Inter-Island ferry costs
- Fleet maintenance costs
- Fleet reliability and emissions technology
- Labour costs
While Mainstream is sensitive to the current economic climate, they are no longer able to absorb all of these increasing costs.
They understand that any increase has an impact on your business and have worked to limit the adjustment to what is necessary while continuing to maintain a reliable nationwide freight network.
The following adjustments will take effect from 1 October 2026:
- All transport rate schedules, tonne and cube, will be adjusted by 4.3%
- Other charges and ancillary services, where applicable, will be adjusted by 4.3%
Fuel is not included in this adjustment and will continue to be managed separately through Mainstream’s Fuel Adjustment Factor.
